Farmers Friend Technologies Private Limited (“Farmers Friend”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) is committed to protecting the privacy of users of our website, mobile applications and other digital services (collectively, the “Services”) and to complying with applicable Indian data protection laws and good privacy practices.

This Privacy Policy describes: (1) what personal data we collect; (2) how we use, share and store that data; (3) your rights and choices; and (4) how to contact us. By accessing or using the Services you consent to the practices described in this Privacy Policy

Interpretation and definitions

Account means a unique account created for you to access our Services.
Affiliate means an entity that controls, is controlled by, or is under common control with Farmers Friend.
Cookies are small data files placed on your device.
Device means any device that can access the Services, such as a computer, smartphone or tablet.
Personal Data / Personal Information means any information that identifies, relates to, or could reasonably be linked with an identifiable individual.
Service Provider means third parties who process data on our behalf (e.g., hosting, analytics, payment processors).

This policy applies to Personal Data collected through our Services, customer support interactions, offline interactions (where applicable), and other interactions where Farmers Friend collects Personal Data. It does not apply to third-party websites or services linked from our Services.

A. Personal Data you provide

You may provide the following when you register, contact us, subscribe, purchase, or otherwise use the Services:

  • Email address

  • Mobile / phone number

  • Postal address / delivery address (where relevant)

  • FPO / organisation name, registration number and role (for business users)

  • Identity documents or KYC details (only where required for paid services or compliance)

  • Bank / UPI / payment details (for billing and refunds; we may store limited payment identifiers while payment processors store full card/UPI data)

  • Agronomic field data, farm location details, crop and yield information, livestock data and other farm-level data you voluntarily provide (may be treated as Personal Data if linked to an individual)

  • Communications and feedback you send to us (support requests, survey responses, messages)

B. Usage Data (automatically collected)

We automatically collect:

  • IP address, device identifiers, browser and OS data

  • Pages visited, features used, session duration, clicks, referral source and navigation paths

  • Location data (approximate) inferred from IP or device permissions if you enable location features

  • Crash logs, performance metrics, and other diagnostic data

C. Cookies and similar technologies

We use cookies, local storage, web beacons and similar technologies for authentication, preferences, analytics, security, and advertising/marketing (where applicable). See Section 7 for details and choices.

How we use your information

We use Personal Data for lawful business purposes, including:

  • To provide, operate and maintain the Services

  • To register and manage your Account and to authenticate users

  • To process payments, subscriptions, orders and refunds

  • To provide agronomy insights, advisory, dashboards and personalized recommendations (based on the data you provide and aggregated models)

  • To communicate updates, service announcements, billing notices, and marketing (only where you have consented to marketing or where permitted by law)

  • To respond to support requests and enquiries

  • To prevent fraud, abuse and security incidents and to ensure the integrity of the Services

  • To comply with legal obligations and to exercise our legal rights (e.g., tax, audit, regulatory compliance)

  • For research, analytics and product improvement (data may be aggregated and anonymized)

  • For business transactions such as mergers, acquisitions or transfers (see Section 10)

We rely on consent, performance of contract, legitimate interests, and compliance with legal obligations as legal bases for processing Personal Data where applicable.

Sharing and disclosure

We will not sell your Personal Data. We may share Personal Data with:

  • Service Providers / Processors: hosting providers, payment gateways, analytics, cloud storage, CRM, marketing platforms and other vendors who perform services on our behalf. They process data per our instructions and contractual safeguards.

  • Affiliates and business partners: where necessary to provide co-branded or integrated services (with contractual protections).

  • Compliance / legal obligations: to respond to lawful requests by public authorities, to comply with applicable law, to protect rights and safety, or to investigate fraud or illegal activity.

  • Business transfers: in connection with a merger, acquisition, reorganization or sale of assets, where Personal Data may be transferred as a business asset. We will notify users of such transfers where required by law.

  • With your consent: for any other purpose we disclose at the time of collection.

Where we transfer Personal Data to third parties we will take reasonable steps to ensure appropriate safeguards (contracts, standard contractual clauses where applicable, or similar measures).

  • Analytics and performance measurement (understanding usage patterns)

Data retention

We retain Personal Data for as long as needed to fulfill the purposes described in this Policy, for the duration of your relationship with us, and for a reasonable period thereafter to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, and as necessary for legitimate business purposes. Where possible we will delete or anonymize data that is no longer required.

Examples (indicative only — adjust per your operational needs):

  • Account data: retained while account active + 3 years after termination for compliance and dispute resolution.

  • Transaction and billing records: retained for statutory tax and audit periods (e.g., as required by Indian law).

  • Usage and analytics: retained in aggregated or pseudonymized form; raw logs retained for limited period (e.g., 6–24 months) depending on operational needs.

Your rights and choices

Subject to applicable law, you may have the right to:

  • Access the Personal Data we hold about you

  • Request correction or update of inaccurate or incomplete data

  • Request deletion of your Personal Data (subject to legal and contractual retention obligations)

  • Object to or restrict processing in certain circumstances

  • Port your Personal Data in a commonly used machine-readable format (where technically feasible)

  • Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent (withdrawal does not affect processing done before withdrawal)

  • Opt out of marketing communications (each promotional message contains an unsubscribe option)

Please direct privacy complaints or rights requests to the Grievance Officer. If you are not satisfied with our resolution, you may escalate to the competent supervisory authority as per the law.

Security

We implement reasonable organizational, technical and administrative measures designed to protect Personal Data against unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration or destruction. Examples include encryption in transit, access controls and secure hosting.

No system is 100% secure — we cannot guarantee absolute security. We will notify affected users and the relevant authorities in accordance with applicable law in the event of a security breach that poses a risk to user rights and freedoms.

Children’s privacy

Our Services are not intended for minors under 18 years. We do not knowingly collect Personal Data from children under 18. If we learn that we have collected Personal Data from a child under 18 without parental/guardian consent, we will take steps to delete that information.
